Melanie + Mike

Last Sunday (July 8th, 2017), I photographed an incredibly cute and quaint wedding in Brentwood, TN. The Cool Springs House is an 1830s plantation style house full of history, but thankfully also air conditioning. I was hired to photograph this wedding about a week before having never met the couple or been to the location so this was a very "wing it," type of day. While the bride had her hair and makeup done I had plenty of time to photograph the adorable details of this wedding.

Melanie was very easy-going and fun to talk to. Her two bridesmaids were her daughter and husband-to-be's daughter. Her mother, co-workers, other family members, and best friends helped to put on her beautiful dress (that honestly weighed 5lbs, she was a trooper for staying in it all day). Her charming 16-year-old son gave her away at the ceremony. I thought this would be a great moment to implement black and white images.

Unfortunately, the wind did not allow for the bubble machine that was placed at the end of the aisle, but they did make a comeback for the exit! Melanie and Mike wrote their own, heartfelt vows that resulted in lots of tears during the ceremony. They had known each other twelve years which as expected, meant they had a lot to say on their wedding day.

Following the ceremony, we got to get a little creative. It'd been a while since I photographed a wedding and I'd never tried to do anything with a long veil so here was my chance. I definitely need to work on it more, but I was very happy with what I got! Also, editing gets really fun when you have someone throwing the veil and trying to run out of the frame.

Here's some more of their session!

Mike and Melanie had an earlier wedding with the ceremony around 3:30pm and wrapping up around 6pm because they had to immediately drive to Atlanta, fly to Miami, and out to their Caribbean honeymoon!

Congrats Mike and Melanie!!
